How to Fix a Stuck Home Button on iPhone or iPad

Lately I’ve been noticing that the Home Button on my iPhone (the circular button below the screen) has been slower to respond than normal. At first I chalked it up to a physical change in the button, maybe the switch’s circuit wasn’t getting completed like it should. But then I came across this guide and, lo and behold, it fixed the problem. It turns out it’s a really easy problem to solve.

1. Open up one of the apps that ships with the device, like Weather, Stocks, Calendar, YouTube, etc.

AppsarrowWeather App

2. With one of these apps open, hold down the Sleep/Wake button (the oblong button on the top of the device) until “Slide To Power Off” appears.

Slide to Power Off

3. Now hold down the Home button, which effectively force quits the app and returns you to the home screen.

Your home button should now be much more responsive than before!
